About Us
Located in southwestern Michigan, C&D Associates, Inc. has
roots as a service organization,
overhauling and repairing Janitrol and South Wind combustion heaters and
supporting accessories. Since our beginning in 1979 we have offered an alternative
to the existing sources of heaters and heating components.
C&D Associates is a family-owned company with 14
employees. We are dedicated to serving the needs of
our customers. The new products we offer are even better than before,
are easy to operate, and include new technology designed to be dependable
and provide heat when you need it.
We originally started this business because of frustrations with the existing
sources of heaters and heating components. Until recently, the only avenue
for replacement parts and heaters was through the aircraft manufacturers.
Reaction time of these manufacturers was slow, and consequently expensive
aircraft were unnecessarily out of service for long periods.
History in Brief
- 1981 – Developed and patented test equipment for aircraft heater
systems. This test equipment enabled us to test combustion heaters without
removing them from the plane.
- 1985 – C&D Airmotive Products (the original name of our company)
formed alliances with Van Dusen, Aviall, Piedmont and other aviation part
distribution networks to distribute FAA/PMA approved parts and overhaul
exchange heaters worldwide.
- 1991 – Electrosystems Inc. (Kelly Aerospace In.) purchased C&D
Airmotive Products, Inc. and Janitrol to form Jan Aero Devices.
- 1994 – We started a new company,
C & D Associates, entering the market
with a new and greatly improved heating system. Development of a new
combustion heater to replace problematic Janitrol and Southwind heaters
began immediately.
- June, 1996 – The Federal Aviation Administration
(FAA) issued a Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA).
- January, 2000 – C&D Associates, Inc. became an FAA Repair Station.
- May 26, 2000 – FAA issued C&D Associates, Inc. TSO-C20 approval
to manufacture a complete line of new, dependable replacement combustion
heaters. The new C & D Associates Inc. sells its products directly
to the consumer worldwide.
